Hi All! Kirby and Nelia here from RMIT in Melbourne!!
Classes started back this week and we got to work campaigning in a busy campus on the first day back! We started off with a quick chat at a job search/interview skills session which we found to be good as the people there were well targeted to what we were advertising! The people there are obviously looking to increase their employability and subscribing to things like the Economist etc can allow them to do that!
Roaming worked pretty well, we handed out a lot of brochures and realised we could definitely use more! We’ve had a very wet week in Melbourne so couldn’t take advantage of all the great outdoor hangouts due to no one being out there! However this did create more traffic in the main buildings and of course the Cafeteria! People who were interested stopped to have a chat so that was good, it was also fun competing with the Australian Newspaper, Marxism club and Religious Society who were also in same area!
Postering we found to be more time-consuming than first thought and oh so bureaucratic - damn uni needing to authorise everything! However, we did notice students looking at the posters whilst we were around and even got some comments from students whilst postering about their opinion on the AFR :) A lot of these students were just hanging around waiting for classes to start so had nothing better to do than watch us which was great!
Thats all from us!
Hope you guys had a great week :)
Kirby & Nelia
